It has been quite some time since my last newsletter, so I thought I might as well start with a doozy of a headline.
Actually crazy rallies in the Nasdaq have happened before. The index doubled in 18 months starting in 1998, just before it crashed in early 2000. Check out the chart below.
In 1998 the index crashed 30% to rally quickly, take out the previous highs and more than triple from the low of 1500 to 5000.
If that repeats it means the index would reach well over 20,000 in just 18 months, after it recently crashed 30% to 7500 in March this year.
In 1999 after the initial first big rally from the 30% sell off, the index paused and then rallied on to double. Will it happen again?
Unlikely? Probably, but I did say it was a doozy of a headline to grab your attention.
I will be discussing this phenomenon and a few other market topics at my upcoming seminar.
